Stella DuBois and Stanley Kowalski have a turbulent but passionate marriage when they're visited by Stella's sister, Blanche. Raised on the DuBois family plantation, Blanche makes no attempt to conceal her shock at Stella's two-room French Quarter apartment or hide her contempt for Stanley, whom she considers almost subhuman.
